Custom Made Contact Lenses

Experience What Custom Contact Lenses Can Do for Your Vision with Our Phoenix AZ Ophthalmologist and Optometrist Team

At the Eye Doctors of Arizona, serving the North, Downtown, and Biltmore areas of Phoenix, AZ, our ophthalmologist and optometrist staff provide contact lens exams regularly to our community. Unlike regular eye exams, a contact lens exam evaluates specific features about your vision, eye anatomy, and lifestyle to ensure that we find the most comfortable and effective fit for you.

Sometimes, standard contact lenses just don't make the grade. If this has been your experience, custom contact lenses may be a great solution.

How Custom Contact Lenses Are Made

Custom contact lenses can be designed with a variety of materials, including rigid-gas permeable or soft lens materials like silicone hydrogel polymers. The former tends to provide clearer vision, however it may be less comfortable because of the way the edges of these lenses rest on the eye. Advances in eye care technology have improved the amount of oxygen that can pass through both rigid gas-permeable and soft lens materials, allowing for improved wearer comfort.

Whether we utilize rigid gas-permeable lens material or soft lens material, we'll design your contacts by evaluating the external surface of your corneas using advanced devices such as a corneal topographer. This device takes several thousand measurement points to provide a highly detailed map of the curvature of your corneas, which optimizes the lens fitting.

We also take into consideration your health history, family history, and lifestyle as we design your contacts. Depending on your specific needs, we can make your contacts with a large or small diameter.

Why Get Custom Contact Lenses

If you've ever been told you need "hard-to-fit" contact lenses, then a custom lens may be ideal for you. People who can benefit from customized contacts include anyone who has:

    • Chronic dry eye syndrome
    • Keratoconus
    • Eye allergy
    • Trifocal or bifocal eyeglasses prescription
    • Certain types of astigmatism
    • Presbyopia
    • Anyone who has been dissatisfied with conventional contact lenses in the past and/or would like to have another corrective eyewear option other than glasses

Testimonials

Reviews From Our Satisfied Patients

I recommend Eye Doctors of Arizona. The entire staff is always happy, pleasant, and helpful. Dr. Heller is wonderful... always thorough, and accurate. An excellent doctor. I was fortunate to meet his second son, Ben, who will be joining the practice soon. Now with their two offices, it is even more convenient to book appointments.
